Note: Rebuild The Boat
Very Odysseus-coded, but in group we talked about a philosophical problem called the Ship of Theseus. Basically, the story goes that the Athenians preserved the ship of the Greek hero Theseus for generations. As the wood fell apart, they replaced the old planks with new ones. The question is: If every piece of the ship has been replaced, is it still the same ship? A boat that actually goes somewhere isn’t supposed to stay the same. But unfortunately, we don’t get to undo the things that happen to us. We only get to decide whether we’ll keep sailing.
Try this: Think about something in your life that changed you. Take 5–10 minutes and write. Answer the questions below:
What survived the journey?
What needed to be repaired?
What did you add?
What did you rebuild?
